file cannot be found - texis.exe

Post by daniel.wegmueller »

Hi all
I have a strange problem on a w2k server (german operating system version).

The system does not find texis.exe when called with "http://myhost/scripts/texis.exe"

The following points are already checked:

texis*.dll in the system32 directory has full access rights for everyone (even removed the hidden flag)

texis.exe has full access rights for everyone

geturl ls.thunderstone.com works (walking the site with gw works)

the scripts directory is mapped in the iis-configuration (there was a test html-file in the same directory that can be called)

the scripts directory has the neccessary rights.
(read, scriptaccess)

I corrected the registry key to "Thunderstone Software"

Nothing seems to help and now, i've run out of ideas where else to look. Any ideas anybody??

I'm getting a little annoyed with this.

thx i a
Dani

The permissions on the directory need to include execute as well as script access. This usually shows up as a request to download texis.exe rather than run it. The other possibility is if you have the MS URLScan filter it can filter out .exe files.

Hi john
The scripts directory has scripts and execution rights.

I can't say about the urlscan filter. I didn't install or configure anything like that as far as I remember. Where and how would I see about that?

hello again

got it.
It was something like a "multiple organ failure" ;-)

urlscan blocked me twice, with .exe and the . which prevented texis from executing the search script that has no ending.

After I fixed that, the windows security system came into action when texis tried to compile "search" into search.vtc and then again with vtc to vtx. Strange.
This could be fixed by changing the security settings for the webinator directory.

Now, thanks to your help, everything works fine and I've learned some new funny things about windows and security...

thx again

Dani
