Windows NT Install

Post by vallinem »

I'm trying to install version 2.5 (licensed) for Windows on an NT 4.0/IIS 4.0 server. My questions are:

1) Are there major advantages to Webinator 4.0 over 25.?
2) In the install instructions for Windows (admittedly for Webinator v. 4.0) it says to install the software outside of the Web structure, but when I actually run the install the default install directory is c:\inetpub\wwwroot\webinator. Is one location better than the other? Also, if I do install it outside of the Web structure, what syntax do I use to point to the database on the front-end search page? E.g., in one of the sample pages they have the code:

<!-- Change this to your database: -->
<DB = /usr2/pub/httpd/htdocs/webinator/db>

but if my database is not under the Web structure, how do I point to it?

1) Much friendlier management interface and many new features. See http://thunderstone.master.com/texis/ma ... 3bf00b8410

2) Install version 2 under the web structure, preferably at the top as given in the default setting (assuming wwwroot is your root dir).

Once installed, you may place databases anywhere. You just need to change the db and $defaultdir to the new location following the instructions within the search script itself.
