Appliance Update: GUI slowness fix

Post by Kai »

Several new appliance updates are now available: texisScripts-7.1.13, texis-6.00.1317090062, and thunderstonePatch-2.5.

The texis update contains an important fix for slow admin GUI interfaces, and should only be installed when all crawls and searches are stopped. This issue affects the packages texis-6.00.1294647643 and texis-6.00.1294652356; earlier and later releases are not affected by the issue.

The texis update contains the following fixes:

* SYSCOLUMNS table was slowly increasing in size at every crawl or GUI access. Did not affect license document count, but GUI admin responsiveness could continually degrade; fixed. Repair of SYSCOLUMNS tables may take a few minutes during this update. Make sure no crawls are running, and do not start any crawls, new profiles, etc. during this update.

* A Metamorph LIKE/LIKEP/etc. (keyword) search with equivs (synonyms), indexed and unindexed sets could potentially miss hits

* Inline settings (e.g. `@suffixproc=0') were causing post-processing of otherwise fully indexable queries

* Inline settings (e.g. `@minwordlen=5' were not always being applied solely to following sets during Metamorph index queries

-----------------------------------------------------

The texisScripts update contains the following fixes and features:

* SOAP search result content is now properly HTML escaped to contrast real content from query highlighting"

* Require HTTPS for Proxy Admin setting added, to System-Wide Settings.

* Require HTTPS Admin renamed to Require HTTPS for Direct Admin, to better describe it.

* Upped xmlOutputVersion to 1.07 for proper escaping of HTML content in SOAP results

* Added Attribute Compare Mode to change case/diacritic/etc. insensitivity of Parametric attribute comparisons. Character Match Mode renamed to Text Search Mode to clarify that it applies only to text (keyword) searches.

* Removed 'Save to appliance' Backup option, now download-only

* More intuitive backup all profiles/one profile interface

* Now applies DNS Mode setting when processing Results Authorization

* Saving System-Wide Settings was potentially creating an incorrect Apache httpd.conf, causing Apache settings to revert and new ones not to be applied

* Changing Debug Mode under System Wide Settings was causing `Cannot find ... script' errors

* Data From Field now properly operates on plugin-translated documents (pdf, doc, etc)

* Crawler now consumes less RAM when finalizing very large crawls

* Stopping or pausing a profile's walk no longer affects other walks in progress

* Better cleanup of refs for removed URLs

* Fix quick help for Max User Results per Page to say correct variable rpp instead of incorrect resultsPerPage

* Fixed possible duplicate links when tracking refs

* Added 'Show Authorization Info' for displaying individual Results Authorization results, to assist in troubleshooting ResAuth

These updates are available via the Maintenance -> Check for Updates menu item on the Appliance.
