Installing to webhost

Post by rlounsbury »

Okay... The site I wish to install the Webinator program is on a host web server (I pay for webhosting). I contacted Earthlink (which is the host) as to whether or not I could install this and according to them it's fine as long as it is installed to the CGI folder and that they have people that have setup the program like this.

Now they use a UNIX server and I'm a gomer when it comes to UNIX. I was hoping that someone has experiance setting up Webinator to an Earthlink hosted account? Or advice to steer me in the correct direction.

No experience with earthlink, but...
Find out what version of unix they use. You might give them the list of platforms from the Webinator download page so they could suggest which you need.
During install you'll need to know what directory CGI programs need to go into, whether they need a .cgi extension, and what the full url for a cgi program would be.

p.s.
You'll also need "shell" login access (telnet or ssh or the like) to perform the install.
