I have installed webinator & Texis numerous times over the years. Im currently having a problem getting webinator to run on a new installation. Any advice would be appreciated.
Windows Server 2003 (server name is guana)
IIS 6.0
Downloaded & attempting to install Webinator version 4.3
Windows SharePoint Services previously installed & now removed.
I mention this because SharePoint takes over the default web site which can cause problems. I uninstalled SharePoint and currently see no problems in normally using the default web site located at c:\inetpub\wwwroot.
Created new virtual directory at c:\inetpub\scripts
Execute permissions of Scripts & Executables
Webinator install directory: C:\Program Files\Thunderstone Software\Webinator
Cgi bin dir: c:\inetpub\scripts
During install, in Select Script Dir, I browsed to c:\inetpub\scripts
Web servers doc tree: c:\inetpub\wwwroot\Webinator
After install
http://guana/SCRIPTS/texis.exe/Webinator/dowalk tried to run, but failed
Copied dowalk, search, & webinatoradmin scripts from c:\Program Files\Thunderstone Software\Webinator\Texis\Scripts\Webinator into c:\inetpub\wwwroot\Webinator
Through IIS Mgr, I made sure that both the scripts virtual directory, and the Webinator directory, have Scripts and Executables permissions.
Both the scripts & webinator directories have Allow Anoymous Access set for the user, IUSR_GUANA.
Thru Windows Explorer, I also made the webinator directory writeable. Tried it, failed, gave Everyone & IUSR_GUANA Full Control on the webinator directory, still failed.
http://guana/scripts/texis.exe/Webinator/dowalk , webinatoradmin, and search still do not work.
http://guana/scripts/texis.exe and http://guana/scripts/texis.exe/webinator/dowalk
return http 404 file or directory not found error. Same result if I create a test Virtual Directory, wtorTest that points to C:\Program Files\Thunderstone Software\Webinator\Texis\Scripts\Webinator.
Changing execute permissions on scripts directory to Scripts only, results in File Download dialog popping up when browsing to http://guana/scripts/texis.exe. To me, this indicates that the scripts directory is properly set up, but that something is wrong with the webinator directory.
By the way, I tried all the texis.cnf, CGI Debug = 1, etc stuff in the newsgroup message entitled IIS HTML directory default It had no effect. I continue to get:
