Performace & NFS Mount

Post by mjacobson »

Do you know if Webinator in either the walk or the search would suffer any performance issues if the database file system went through an NFS mount?

I am supporting a few large walks and my local disk space is filling up. Looking for options.

Thanks.

It depends a lot on the performance of the NFS server and the network. The disk usage pattern of Webinator is not designed to be efficient over NFS, however there are some people who have successfully used it. You do need to be careful to make sure only one machine is accessing the database at any time.

So it is not recommended that one machine be running the dowalk script and a different machine serve the search results?
