Searching Directory of Uploads

Post by dorban »

I have a page that does a file upload through the browser, placing word and pdf files into a directory. I want to set up the search appliance to check this directory every 15 minutes, and then have a search box to search ONLY these files.

I have a profile created to start in the uploaded_files directory, but it doesn't find any results b/c there isn't a page that LINKS to the files. Is there some way to have it just search for the directory contents?

Thanks,
D.

It can't index what it doesn't know about. There has to be some way to find out what files are there. A web page, a file, or a walk setting.

I guess that was my question... is there a setting that just says "index everything in this directory"?

If there isn't, my second idea is to create an html page that get's updated each time someone uploads a file, creating a link to each page. I would prefer not to have to do it this way though, so I thought I'd try to see if there are any setup options available first.

Thanks for the info.

If the server provides an automatic index of the directory then yes. Visit the directory with your browser. If you can see links to the files so can the appliance. If you can't see links neither can the appliance.
