Webinator Problem

Post by Thunderstone »

I am running Webinator on a Linux PC and recently upgraded the Webinator
software from the older version to the newer version. However, when I ran
the "gw http://www.state.la.us" to rebuild the data base it only accessed
the first html page of my website. I also tried lower level pages, etc.
and still only got one page. I had no problem with this in the older
version when I ran it. Any suggestions??? (ps: I did not wipe the
database that the older version created).

Once a page is in the database it will not normally be rewalked. You need
to use the -e option (see the manual for details) to reload old html. Or
you need to wipe the database and rewalk.

Webinator Problem

Post by Thunderstone »

If I access the Webinator from a /cgi-bin/imagemap.exe link, then when I
try to do a search it tries to run the search against the wrong address.

When I attempt to access Webinator by clicking on a search button
contained on an imagemap I do get the initial Webinator form. However,
the URL returned with the form is
"http://ipdemo/cgi-bin/imagemap.exe/butt ... 85:525,385" so when I
complete the form and then try to execute the actual webinator search the
query is run against the imagemap URL and not back to the address where
Webinator is running. The Webinator form is actually sent from URL
"http://wwwsrch/cgi-bin/webinator".

If I try to access the Webinator search from a plain html reference it
does work correctly. I only encounter the problem if I try to link it to
a button on an imagemap. Any suggestions???

In reference to the problem (see below) that I emailed to you earlier, I
did correct the situation and it works OK. What I did was modify the
"action URL reference" on the search form to point to the full URL
qualifier for Webinator and then saved the search form on the primary Info
Louisiana server as a search.htm document. This change then let me access
the search form via an imagemap cgi. When I ran the search from the query
form, it worked fine.
