Refresh behavior when changing settings

I have a refresh that kicks off every night. I recently added a single page URL to the settings. It doesnt appear to be being read, even after a week. Do I need to initiate a new crawl?

When you changed the page url field it should have automatically kicked off a walk to get the new pages. You should have seen a gray box at the top of the page saying so.

Delete and add it again to see what it says. ALso check the walk status after adding it.

Not a base url, but a single page url I can see how the baseurl would matter, but a single page I hope wouldnt. If I go new, it will knock out my live search database. How Can I prevent that?

Modifying the single page url field will cause a walk to get the new single pages.

A new walk won't knock out your live search. It creates a new database, walks to that, then flips it live on completion.
