Wildcat 5/WIN Server troubles.

Post by Thunderstone »

I have downloaded and installed webinator, and (I believe) created the index
files for my pages (all 34 of them, according to webinator). The problem I
am having is trying to invoke the search page. According to the docs, I use
the following URL (based on my domain)
http://www.wcssoft.com/cgi/texis.exe/webinator/search/

cgi is the mapped dir I have defined for my CGI programs, and others work
fine. The texis.exe program is in my cgi dir. The problem I have is that
if I put it in exactly like the above, I get a 404 error. If I put it in as
http://www.wcssoft.com/cgi/texis.exe?webinator/search/

I get the following:

Texis Web Script (Vortex) Copyright © 1996-1998 Thunderstone - EPI, Inc.
Free Webinator Version 2.5.908376588 of Oct 14, 1998

Error

002 c:\morph3\texis\testdb\index: Can't open default script
c:\morph3\texis\testdb\index: No such file or directory in the function
compilefile

I have a feeling this may not be compatible with the Wildcat 5/WINServer web
server cgi implementation. Has anyone out there used this for this web
server? If so, I would be extremely grateful if you could forward your
configuration to me.

TIA

You guessed correctly. Your webserver's CGI implementation is broken.
Get a webserver with fully functional CGI.
