Indexing Problem

Post by joseph.gresham »

Hi

Quick question. I was just wondering if the 'Cookie Source Path' feature is supported within a Linux environment. We are currently having some difficulty indexing the secure sections of our site and would like to try this feature as a possible solution.

Yes, as long as you follow the rules about the cookie source format.

You can usually avoid using cookie source path by setting up an appropriate primer url to do the login on each walk startup.

Also make sure you exclude any logout links so the crawl does not inadvertently log itself out.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. It turns out that Webinator was indeed crawling the logout link and therefore not indexing the secure section of the site. Strange this, because it was enclosed within exclusion tags, anyway fixed the problem by explicitly adding it to the exclusions section of the search settings.

Once again thanks for the pointers

Links are extracted from the page before the exclusion tags are processed, as they are often used to exclude navigation menus where you don't want the text, but do want the links.
