Event Log: Texis ISAPI Errors

Post by McWilliams »

Hi guys... having a bit of problem and need to figure out what's happening here.

System: windows server 2000, IIS 5, Texis Webinator ISAPI 5.1 (pro license)

Lately we've been getting a TON of Texis ISAPI event log errors about every 7sec such as:
----------------------------
Event Type: Error
Event Source: TexisISAPI
Event Category: None
Event ID: 240
Date: 3/25/2008
Time: 12:35:50 PM
User: N/A
Computer: IS07106
Description:
Texis ISAPI encountered a socket error:

Socket connection to remote Texis failed!

Please ensure that the host (localhost) and port (10700) are configured properly, and check "Texis/monitor.log" to see if the Monitor Web Server is running.

WSAGetLastError: 10055
--------------------------
When this happens, all our web sites (about 13) loose their connection to the SQL server and after a reboot, things come back online.

From the monitor.log around the same time the above error is taken:
--------------------------
009 2008-03-25 10:22:02 (880) Cannot rename license file E:\Program Files\ThunderStone Software\license00880eqe.tmp to E:\Program Files\ThunderStone Software\license.key: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process (target exists)

Are you currently able to use Texis ISAPI to contact Webiantor?

The ISAPI logs are saying it can't contact Webinator, and the monitor logs mention some license problems, but there's nothing that would indicate monitor web server problems.

The logs after startup look ok.

I haven't attempted to use webinator while this is happening - I'm usually in a hurry to get the sites back on-line. But I'll give that a shot if this happens again.

I'm really curious on the dozens of Texis ISAPI errors that occur (like I mentioned; about every 7sec or so).

I'll report back once I have a chance to test when/if this happens again.

The ISAPI errors are a symptom, not the problem itself.

From the monitor.log you posted, it looks like there may be multiple monitor.exe's running as different users.

When this happens, please check how many monitor.exe's are running (multiple are expected), and what users they're running as (should all be the same).

Issue cropped up again.

Checking the task manager, I see 4 monitor.exe running.

I only see Texis Monitor once in the services mmc running as LocalSystem.

I only have 2 crawls created.

How do I clear this up?

thanks for all your help and support!

In the task manager, what users does it say those monitors
are running as?

> I only have 2 crawls created.

That sounds like the right number of monitors, though;
one main monitor, one for the settings database,
and one for reach crawl.

I'm unable to see the user under task manager (win server 2000). I can see the user object which is 0.

the texis monitor in the services is set as "LocalSystem account". Should it be otherwise?

could you send an email to support-jason@thunderstone.com and attach your entire monitor.log, and let us know what approximately what date/times you've known the problem to occur?

That should be fine. We'll take this to the ticketing system to get some logs.
