Removing a table from a catalog, but retaining the .tbl file

How do I remove a table from the system catalog without having Texis delete the .TBL file? It looks like when a DROP TABLE sql command is issued, the associated file is deleted as well.

The easiest method is probably to rename the .tbl file before dropping it.
