GW Won't Execute?

Post by Thunderstone »

Sirs:

I am having a problem with Webinator. Things appear to install
correctly... After the installation I go to
(/home/httpd/html/webinator/bin) and enter "gw -h". I get a file not
found.. What gives?

OS is Red Hat LINUX 4.0. running Apache Webserver. I don't know that
much about UNIX/LINUX so please bear with me. :-)

If you need more information, please let me know...

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thank-you

Mike Imrick

I assume you see the gw program in that directory when you
do an "ls -l" and it is executable (an x in the permissions).
The current directory (ie: ".") is probably not in your path.
Try "./gw" instead of "gw"

If that's not it, please include an "ls -l" of the bin directory
and the exact message you are getting.

I get a similar problem on Tru64 with gw. ./gw does not work, I in fact get no error messages, just the prompt back. Other executables, like texis and timport work.
I have attached my directory listing:

GW Won't Execute?

Post by harold@dovesystems »

Under Red Hat Linux, I have to list the full path to gw, even if I'm in that directory. You can do a pwd, copy the result, do a paste, then add /gw to the end along with the parameters to gw. Hope that's a fix!

It would appear that the gw program in the distribution tar for that release on the alpha is somehow corrupt. We will get back you shortly about where you can download a working version.

That works, obviously. But you could just do ./gw instead if you're in the directory.
