2nd installation for VirtualHost

Post by Thunderstone »

Hello,

What is the best thing to do if I want to install Webinator (not really the
crawler part, but rather Texis + cgi-bin Vortex scripts) for a VirtualHost
(meaning this VirtualHost has a different DocumentRoot, different cgi-bin
path, etc.)?

Should I just make symbolic links from its (VirtualHost's) cgi-bin to texis
(because texis is already installed on the same machine, just in a different
directory, for a different web server), and then just mkdir webinator under
VirtualHost's DocumentRoot, and put my Vortex scripts there?

Or should I just run the installation scripts again and have it install a
new copy of everything for this VirtualHost?

What does Thunderstone's tech support recommend?
What do users of Webinator tend to do in such situations?

Thanks,

Otis

Either method will work satisfactorily. It depends on how you want to
manage it. The soft links just require more unix expertise than some
people have.

The soft links will let you do future upgrades to both at once by just
installing over the original.
