License Violation - too many hits

Post by harold@dovesystems »

I JUST today changed from free to commercial. The license server did it for me automatically (pretty neat!). So, I was rewalking the site watching the walk status, which reloads the page every 10 seconds or so. Apparenlty every one of those reloads may be counting as a hit, and I went over my daily limit (I don't know what that hit limit is yet - now that I read the online license agreement, it says the hit limit is on the invoice, which I don't have yet). Will the error go away tomorrow when the daily hit count starts over? Guess I shoudn't watch the walks so closely...

License Violation - too many hits

You can also see the limit on the Webinator description page at http://www.thunderstone.com/webinator For the Commercial Webinator it would be 10,000 hits. The hits are counted over a 24 hour period, so when that period is over the error will go away. The reloads will count as a hit, as it does need to reinvoke texis each time. You would need to have watched the walk for quite a long time at 10 second intervals for a long time to generate a significant number of hits.

License Violation - too many hits

Thanks for the response! I guess I'll learn more as I go along.
Yes, it was a long walk. Probably what's worse is that I left a computer at home watching the walk, then brought up another browser window at work watching it, so I got to double the hits! Won't do that any more...
Since the message says "since 17:48", I'm assuming that at 17:48 today the message will go away and I can walk another database.
Is there somewhere I can look at the hit count?

Thanks for the great product!

17:48 would be when you went over the limit, so it should be before then. You can run texis -license to see the current limits, and how many hits are accumulated, as well as the time it will reset.
