Installation problem

Post by Thunderstone »

I went through the archives, and couldn't find a solution to my problem.

When I do the install everything looks fine, except that when I go to the
cgi-bin directory I have entered during the install process, I see a texis
file, with no extension, but it's not a directory. Also I've checked the
permissions, and it says: rxsr-xr-x which looks new to me.

So when I go to /webinator/index.html and click on a link, I get a 404, and
when I open /cgi-bin/texis from the browser it displays the file's content.

I saw a message related to this problem where tech support would tell the
suer that Webinator must be installd in a "real" cgi-bin dir, not just one
with cgi in the name; this is what I did.

I'm trying to install Webinator on a machine running Linux (RedHat 6.0);
it's a virtual account, but I'm supposed to have root access on it.

Thanks for your time and patience.

It sounds as if the cgi-bin directory has not been setup correctly.
You should make sure it is configured with a ScriptAlias if Apache
to indicate that the program should be executed, not downloaded.
