Installing on Windows NT Host - What Next?

Post by Thunderstone »

Something appears to be confusing to me with regards to installing Free
Webinator on my host's Windows NT IIS service.

I think everything is installed correctly on my host, but when I run my
test procedure at:
http://lkessler.com/cgi-bin/texis.exe/webinator/search/

then I get the message:
"Error: The database does not appear to exist."

and when I view the source, I see the message:
<!-- 736: 4 Could not create database /webinator/db in the function -->
plus other messages later on.

However, I have created and made accessible the directory: /webinator/db
under my //lkessler.com domain on my host, and have copied into it all the
files in the db directory that were created on my own machine by an
indexing with the gw program.

Please let me know what I may be doing wrong.

You will need to know what the actual directory name is, not just the
web-directory. If you try to go to the URL:

http://lkessler.com/cgi-bin/texis.exe/webinator/db

you should see in the error message the full path to your webinator
database directory, which is what needs to be put in the search script.
