Commercial version wants to contact license server

Post by b.sims »

I recently reformatted one of my Texis machines and reinstalled it (W2000 64-bit commercial). Now, running Webinator gives the License Server Contact error. I'm puzzled...

Webinator shows itself as Commercial version, and using texis -version gives the same info as my working machine. I know I must have missed something stupid - any ideas?

Thanks,

Use
texis -license
to see your license. The CD should contain a license.upd file. Place that into the install directory and run
texis -update
it will get renamed to license.did. Then recheck your license.

What program, under what circumstance, is emitting the error?
What's the exact message?

Its Webinator- every page it serves has at the top the message

'This site had been in violation of its license since 2002-04-11 20:33:08.

License Server Contact (0(0)rows/10000(4)hits)
Upgrade your webinator'

This is a brand new W2000 installation; previously I had Texis running on the machine without any problems.

Perhaps you have an incorrect license somehow. Open a tech support ticket and provide your license "Serial number" from "texis -license".

The license has worked fine before, and is currently working fine on another machine. Is it possible that the script is checking where it should not?

Doubtful, but check monitor.log for the definitive answer. I would suggest opening a ticket. Include the serial numbers from your working and non-working licenses.

monitor.log shows that it is trying to make the license contact each time, failing and doing the License Server Contact error. We only have one license (its a site license) so this is the same on each machine. texis -license produces the same result on each also.

I will open the ticket later as you suggest, thanks.

I finally solved the problem by copying the contents of a working MORPH3 onto the machine. However, I'm still having difficulties with the crawl which I will make a new post for.
