NT install problems

Post by Thunderstone »

Please can you help with this webinator install problem?

I have installed webinator 2 from the free download for evaluation on my NT4.0 box.
When I ask for the search interface from http://hostname/webinator/default.html it gives the following error:

Error

002 /webinator/search: Can't open source file e:\InetPub\wwwroot\webinator\search: No such file or directory in the function compilefile

..and there's no wonder, beacuse the 'search' directory doesn't exist!

I have only run the setup program, and not gw or anything. I must say, what I have to do with gw is a bit of a mystery!

Why does webinator look for a directory not created?

For the current project, I actually only want to set up a meta search engine service. Is webinator a sledge hammer solution? What steps do I need to go through for just the meta service?

search is a script file, not a directory. There is another link on
default.html that points to newsearch. Did you try that? In any event,
you can't search until you index something with gw. The manual is at
http://www.thunderstone.com/gw25man/gw2.html .

For just meta search, you don't have to use gw as long as you don't want
to include yourself in the metasearch. You should be able to install
and use the metasearch immediately after installing webinator as you have.
