I don't think we are on the same page. You keep telling me to set the=credit union and I was talking about the eqvsusr.lst file in which you set equivalances separated with comma with no spaces between them (which, any way, should work too).

Where am I going to set the=credit union?

I think I can live with my old way of setting noise list in the init function, if required.

Those are completely different.
I'm talking about the equiv (eqvsusr.lst) too.

didn't work.

set credit union,the in eqvsusr.lst file and ran

backref -l3 eqvsusr.lst eqvsusr

Let's just forget about it. It's not worth my and your time.
