Scheduled Walk Malfunctioning

Post by mmcfadden »

When I try to rename the testDB folder I get the typical error message of:
Cannot rename TestDB: Access is denied.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

I also noticed that there are less files in the 64bit folder is that right? Also I was on my server and looked at the services and noticed that the Texis monitor service is not running and is set to Automatic. However when I tried to start the monitor service I recieved the following message:

could not start the Texis Monitor service on Local Computer Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control requrest in a timely fashion.

I also noticed that my new monitor.exe file is 4140KB and the oldmonitor.exe file is 4112KB. I don't know if this is important.

Make sure all monitors are stopped so the database is released.

Right.

You want monitors stopped while doing this.

Right. Remember you replaced the old monitor with a new one.

The Texis Monitor service is stopped and won't start. So my assumption was that I could then do as instructed and rename the testdb folder and replace with the 64bit versions of the files. However even with the Texis monitor service reported as stopped in the Services dialog in Windows I still cannot do as instructed. Is there something else that I am missing and must do first?

In task manager (right click the start bar to get to task manager) look at the process list. End any process called monitor or texis.

I only have two processes running both are monitor.exe and neither will allow me to end process on them with task manager.

Have you done the
INSTALLDIR\monitor -k
mentioned previously? If not try that. If they're still around, you'll probably need to reboot to get rid of them.

I did run a installdir\monitor -k and then was able to rename the testDB folder and replace it with a new folder called testDB with the 64-bit files. However at this point the search and admin functionality broke. When a search was entered and I hit the submit button IE only displayed a white page and went nowhere. I also tried to go to the Admin page and here is what was displayed on the screen. I went ahead and restored the 32-bit files and the system atleast functions again.

You're still running mixed versions. You have to get rid of ALL of the old 32 bit Texis programs and databases (including texis.exe in your cgi directory which should have been replaced by the install to 64 bit but apparently wasn't). Then install the 64 bit version.

Your other option is to stay 32 bit. Your database tables will be limited to 2GB of walked text content. If you prefer a 32 bit version open a tech support ticket requesting a platform change at the "contact us" link on the left.

How do I update the texis.exe file in the cgi directory?

Do I just copy it from the installation directory? What other files would be left around that would potentially be 32 bit and conflicting with the 64 bit version?

I took just the TestDB 64 bit converted files and that was all that was in the TestDB folder when the system failed previously.

Yes, just copy it.

All related programs are confined to INSTALLDIR except the one texis.exe file in your CGI directory. Your existing search databases are all 32 bit and will have to be removed and walked anew with the 64 bit version. Searches will not work on the old 32 bit databases once the new 64 bit version is installed.
