many thanks for your reply.
:> i'm just wondering what i can and can't do in regards to modifing the
:> search script. are we allowed to modify it as we need (like adding in our
:> headers and footers while keeping the Thunderstone images)? to tell you
:> the truth, i've already done this but the copyright image appears after my
:> footer - so it looks like the whole page is copyright thunderstone, rather
:> than just the search engine. is there any way to move it?
:
:You may do anything you wish to the script code, but removing or
:obscuring the copyright message may result in license revocation.
:The reason the program is free is because it lets people sample
:our technology while providing us with market visibility.
great

<rubs hands together with glee>
:The .gif rather clearly states that Texis / Webinator is Thunderstone's
:and not your content. A basic license to Texis is around $10K USD, and
:does not display that gif. If you feel strongly about it you might
:consider this option.
i don't want to remove the copyright image, just move it. our pages have a
standard header and footer, and currently the copyright image appears after
the footer. some browsers might not show it because it's after a </html>
tag. i'd like to move it so that it's before the start of the footer.
i suspect it can't be done, as from what i can tell it's added by the texis
program.
:> i've also got a minor problem with its results .. all of the pages on our
:> site are ssi'd with a standard header and footer (which is why i used
:> Webinator). however this means that every page in the site has the same
:> <title>

so when Webinator returns its search results, every hit looks
:> identical, except for the url of the link that the title points to. what i
:> was thinking of doing, as our directory structure directly reflects our
:> html structure, is build the title of the search result from the url, or
:> simpler yet, just replace the title of the document with the url. i guess
:> this is kinda tied in with my first question .. am i allowed to do this?
:> if so .. how?
:
:Indexed documents should probably have titles we have a similar problem
:with Adobe PDF files, they don't have titles either. Yes, you may modify
:the database and or the code to suit your needs, that is the whole intent
:behind our providing access to the Texis scripting language.
:
:There are a couple ways to go about what your are trying to do, the
:easiest is to change the script to display the URL instead of the
:title field. This operation would take about 1 minute.
:
:Have a look at the Texis Web Script manual and read up on Texis' SQL.
:It should be pretty easy to accomplish what you've described.
the more i look at texis web script, the more impressed i am with it.
you're right - it took me about 1 minute to fix this
.
uhh.. i thought my email was going to a mailing list .. does the list
still work?
