ACCORDING to the documentation example, the above is suppose to assign $lkw the string value of "upper". HOWEVER what really happens is lkw is assigned the value of "lower".
So then you think, let's try this instead,
<$lkw = <lower $kword> >
That results in a compilation error of "015 ptest2:8: Tag missing closing `>' bracket"
SO HOW DO I DO THIS?
thanks
harry
PS: I am running the texis that is supplied with the FREE webinator

BINGO! And that IS the problem Bart, John, Kai with the documentation and the message board system.
It does need to be placed in upper and in lower functions section. Or at least the PROPER example needs to be given.
I know all of you hate having to answer these questions. You would rather work on real programming assignments and true indepth troubleshooting.............however, the documentation is VERY lacking.
I can spot an "I hate writing these idiots answers" reply or a piece of "There, I finished the damn documentation" because I myself have had to reply back to stupid users who didn't read the documentation. And I myself have been given the hateful task of writing user documentation when I would rather be back at the lab doing more coding and debugging.
HOWEVER, THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO NEED THE DOCUMENTATION are those who do not yet know the answer. and if you see a never-ending load of stupid questions that have obvious answers, then the true reality is.................... the documention is not working.
You guys are the experts on the product. Therefore you will NEVER know what's missing from the documentation because you know the product inside and out.
You need to listen to the experts on thunderstone's online documentation.
That's us, the stupid users.
Our documentation is fairly complete, albeit terse. Had you read the intro sections to the Vortex manual, and used the tutorial that we provide, you would never have asked a question about something as fundamental as the usage of $ret .
The real missing component that can not really be communicated by any realistic amount of documentation is the "mind-set". Most of the questions that are posted to the Texis and Vortex Message Boards are very legitimate. These Q's tell us where we need to expand the docs or add functionality to the software.
The downside to free support and open forums is that there's no penalty to the users for asking tech support versus doing the proper homework. Some day I suppose Thunderstone will have to charge people for support just like every other company as a result of this. It will be a sad day for me.
Yes you're right. I was wrong.
The domentation is clear and concise and its well developed, with many redundancies, and good complete examples to the help the programmer new to using texis and webinator.
