Windows 2000 installation problems

Post by cad »

What have we done wrong?
Just installed, this is we what we get ...

In our local server, texis.exe returns:
<QUOTE>
Texis Web Script (Vortex) Copyright © 1996-2001 Thunderstone - EPI, Inc.
Free Webinator Version 3.01.989939209 of May 15, 2001 (i686-intel-winnt)
Cannot contact license server. 000 Cannot get config settings
</QUOTE>

gw.exe displays:

<QUOTE>
100 Could not open key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Thunderstone Software
Can't alloc logfile name
2001/05/23 16:55:05 Could not open key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Thunderstone Software
Cannot contact license server.
</QUOTE>

In the registry, we have:
<QUOTE>
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Thunderstone Software - Expansion Programs International, Inc]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Thunderstone Software - Expansion Programs International, Inc\Free Webinator]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Thunderstone Software - Expansion Programs International, Inc\Free Webinator\2.56]
</QUOTE>

texis.exe is installed in HTML server space,
gw.exe and other programs are installed in the file system (not in server space).

Has anyone else had this problem? We are stuck.

Is your server connected to the internet so that it can make an HTTP request to ls.thunderstone.com? Does

geturl http://ls.thunderstone.com/

work?

Try:

gw -d- -st "select * from SYSTABLES"

to force another license contact, and give us the IP address of the machine you are running from; we can then run further checks on this end. You can mark it private if you wish.

Using the default setting when installing Webinator on to a Windows 2000 Server PC, what is the form action to execute a search? I don't have a cgi directory or virtual directories setup. The scripts directory is at the same level as the root directory. Webinator directory is in the root directory.

What do you mean by your root directory? With a normal IIS setup you would install texis.exe into the c:\inetpub\scripts directory, and the webinator directory would be under c:\inetpub\wwwroot, and the url would be http://SERVERNAME/scripts/texis.exe/webinator/search

Thanks John for the quick reply. texissct.dll had full permissions for everyone. Adding I_wan and I_user with full permissions did not help I still get the same message. We are using NAT behind a firewall. Port 80 is open.
geturl http://ls.thunderstone.com gives the following message.
