I have a problem with a search on a french site. Actually we want to define the word "et" as a noise word, but the user should be able to search for "et" as it is also a synonym of the word "Eurotrek". Is it possible to define a word as both a noise word and a synonym ?

No. There would be no way for Texis to know which way it was intended at any given moment.

ok lets say I define "et" as a noise word so it would not be in the index nor found when given as a query. But what happens when I define "et" then as a root for a equiv and define ET = eurotrek ? What happens first the noise filter or the equiv selection ?

Noise stripping also applies to equivs. Equiv sets where the root is noise will be stripped. Noise words in equiv sets will be stripped.

Of course, keepnoise forces all noise words to be left alone in the query and equivs (and index if used at index creation time).
