Webinator 4.0 Free edition (un)installed at least 10 times. For some reason the system (monitor.exe, texis.exe) hangs at certain search settings, e.g. if you disable "stay under", enable "all extensions" or enable "enterprise". CPU driving up to 100%.

Mostly the search hangs at a certain page and refreshes the same "page" over and over. At this point there is no way of stopping that particular walk. Resetting is also not possible. The only option seems to delete a certain profile, uninstall webinator, reboot and re-install.

The admin url created in the task bar, does not register the "scripts" directory definition. E.g. /cgi-bin/texis.exe/webinator/dowalk is always /scripts/webinator/dowalk, whatever you fill in while installing the software. Texis.exe is put in the right directory (/cgi-bin/).

What's the best way to stop walks, without uninstalling and installing the software?

Another question: how to change the font size of the result (pages)? In /wwwroot/webinator/search, but where exactly.

Finally, it could be useful if one could save the searches default settings. Now I have to copy the header and footer html over and over, every time a profile is deleted or the software is uninstalled and re-installed.

There's a dowalk script that you can download from
http://www.thunderstone.com/texis/site/ ... ample.html
that is slightly newer than the one in the setup bundle (we'll be updating the setup shortly). Replace the installed one with the new one. It should eliminate the stuck walks. To stop the ones that are already stuck you need to kill the "texis" process from taskmanager and possibly delete the profile if the kill is not sufficient. un/reinstall or reboot should not be necessary.

Under "Search Settings" you can set "Top HTML" and "Bottom HTML" to your desired template. You can use html and/or style sheets. If you feel like editing the script get started at the "<a name=top>" and "<a name=bottom>" functions.

You could create a profile called "mydefault" or some such where you setup your favorite settings. Then when you create a new profile make it "as a copy of" that profile instead of "-defaults-".

Dear Mark,
Thanks for your very prompt reply. I will download the new dowalk script.

One question left: where in "search" do I have to change the font size of the results? I had managed to change that in version 2.5 but now I'm lost again.

Killing texis.exe is not possible because it's somehow locked. Deleting a profile and recreating the same profile is also not possible due to the same reason. Next option is usually to create a new profile with a new name. How long are files usually locked after a walk? Does the free webinator version allow us to change this setting? I've read something about texis.cnf but that was applicable for the full texis.

If things are more stable with version 4, we will finally decide to go for the commercial version with plugin, because Thunderstone earns it to be supported. Without any doubt, I can say that you guys at Thunderstone have the best and fastest support ever seen. Don't loose the spirit and go on like this and be careful for all kinds of CEO's. Best wishes to all!

I thought I answered the font question. You can set it in the admin interface HTML settings or by editing the script's top and bottom functions.

You probably need to be admin to kill texis launched from the webserver. Database files may be locked for a couple of minutes after the last access of the database. But that's not your problem. Your problem is the stuck walk. The new dowalk should eliminate that issue.
