Page Not Found Error with Webinator Free Version 4.0

Post by mike.blair »

When I try running the admin program for the first time I get a 404 error. I may have MS URLScan installed but I'm not sure. How to I find out if I have URLScan installed on IIS under Windows NT 4.0 server?

can't find a urlscan file. We are running MS Trend Office Scan. Wonder if that might be causing the problem?

Possibly. Check it's config.

That error can also be caused by installing into the wrong directory. Are you sure you used your system's proper CGI enabled directory. It's probably something like c:\inetpub\scripts .

Check your webserver's error log to possibly find more detailed information about the error.

I put it in the /scripts directory. That directory is configured for executables. Do you know what the NTFS permissions for the directory need to be set at?

The IIS permissions are what are most important. Make sure in the IIS admin that the directory has execute permissions set to "Scripts and Executables".

I believe my permissions are set up correctly. Must be something on the web server that won't let me run the executable. I have check and rechecked all the settings I can think of. Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Don't know. Make sure the url you're using is the correct one for the scripts directory you've chosen.

What's your URL?

If you try "myhost/scripts/texis.exe" as the URL there are 3 possible outcomes:

- a 404 error indicates that the scripts directory is not set up at all in IIS

- if you get the option to download the file then you don't have "Scripts and Executables" permissions set

- if you get a Texis message then it is running correctly and your URL above should work.
