Indexing files on Xerox Docushare server

Am I right in assuming that so long as a file (PDF, DOC, etc.) has a URL, that it can be indexed with Webinator? We want to be able to integrate a search of the city archives Xerox Docushare server into the search of the city Web site.

Since we don't have the PDF plugin, we can't just run a test index on the target site.

Yes, as long as it's an http url. The webserver should also return the correct mime type for those files, but Webinator will still work with an unknown mime type if the extension is known.
