Help!

Post by Thunderstone »

I have installed the Webinator product and went through the process of
indexing my site with no problems. However, whenever I try to search
my index all I see on my browser is a screen that says perform a
search and Read the documention. I don't see a form from which query
the search. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm assuming you accessed the http://www.yoursite.com/webinator page to
get that output. Did you try clicking on the "search" link on that page?
It should take you to a like something like
http://www.yoursite.com/cgi-bin/webinator . This is the Url for the initial
search form. If "webinator" is installed in some cgi directory other than
/cgi-bin, you will have to use that name in the place of "cgi-bin".

If you still have problems, please supply more information.
Your operating system.
The paths specified during installation.
The URL to the webinator cgi-bin program.
Precise report of what URL and/or actions you tried and what output you got.

Mark,

How are you ?. Jerry Roy Here, Remember me (Jesus Freak), Bible
software.

Does Webinator have the capability to search other databases such as
Oracle ?. I am doing a project for UCLA and I need to know if webinator
will work. Do you offer a scholastic discount for colleges on the full
version ?. How about copies for non profit organizations ?.

On another note. I have been contemplating how to design and plan the
bible search site where I will index ONLY all the Christian sites as
well as the sermons and writings of the founding fathers but I
personally cannot afford your full version and am hoping to get an
organizational discount if possible (ala.. .org). What can you do for
me ?.

Best Regards,

Jerry Roy

Webinator is a dedicated application of our Texis database product.
It only talks to its own narrowly specialized version of a Texis database.

Sorry, there are no discounts on the commercial version. That's what
the free version is for. You can index any collection less than 10000 pages
with the free version. And you can index multiple collections.

hi ,
I have installed the Webinator and will be buying Texis product soon.I am experimenting with the Webinator now.I am just repeating the question posed by Jerry Roy...does Webinator index and search the Oracle database(which is residing in another server)?
I have installed Webinator on Win NT4.0.My web server is IIS.
thanks in advance,
Joshua.

Webinator indexes web pages. If those web pages happen to come from a database driven site then it will index them, but it will not open a direct connection to another SQL server.

Texis can import an Oracle database.
