As stated in http://thunderstone.master.com/texis/ma ... 3d50081c10 the machine you're installing on must have access to the Internet, specifically ls.thunderstone.com:80.

Can you run geturl http://ls.thunderstone.com/ from the Webinator directory of your install? What does it say?

ok. I was able to make Run, but only up to the Administration interface where reads "Webinator 4.1-Unix-wo/plugin" AND HENCE I ENDED UP WHERE I STARTED IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Trying to make dowalk run but gives me:
----------------------------------------
018 [webinatoradmin=webinatoradmin](dowalk) 888: Can't exec `./c:\ARCHIV~1\APACHE~1\apache\cgi-bin\texis.exe': El sistema no puede hallar el archivo especificado. in the function doexec

WHICH IS EXACTLY WHERE I STARTED ONE DAY AGO.
I Have tried the following with no luck:

1º. http://thunderstone.master.com/texis/ma ... 3c112f2313
WHICH HAPPENS TO WORK BEATUFULLY FOR 4.0.05 BUT NOT 4.1

Right, the "Can't exec" problem is due to a bug in Apache. We've now (a few hours ago) uploaded a version of dowalk that works around this, as mentioned in http://thunderstone.master.com/texis/ma ... 3d5008a510 . Download a new version of dowalk at http://www.thunderstone.com/texis/site/ ... ample.html ; this fixes both issues mentioned in the messages you cite.

I downloaded the new dowalk that you uploaded hours ago, an nothing, happens. Same mistake. Cannot read
where texis.exe is located en "c:\progr~1\Apache~1\Apache\cgi-bin\texis.exe"

I did apply the folloing one by one, with no result.
1º. http://thunderstone.master.com/texis/ma ... 3c112f2313

Nor any comibination of them. The Administator interface still says UNIX and the dowalk does generate the same error over an over. I feel at lost here.

I guess I am the firts "victim" of the new 4.1, but I am learining, anyway. My apologies to all of you. But there are APACHE WINDOWS people around that is going to have the same hard time.

We realize that there are Apache users on Windows, which is why we're doing everything we can to diagnose and fix such issues.

You can verify that you've got the latest dowalk by checking the very end of the script: it should say something like "work around potentially broken Apache...".

Also, make sure that the dowalk script is in <installdir>\Texis\Scripts\Webinator: this is *different* from Webinator 4.0.5 which placed scripts in your InetPub\Webinator dir. (This might explain why the fix works for 4.0.5 but not 4.1.)

Lastly, can you tell us what exact version of Apache you are running?

I am using APACHE 1.3.22 for WINDOWS and I am running WIndows 2000 Pro.

Thanks a lot for all the hints. It has been a rough day.
I have not explore the latest tip regarding <intalldir>\Texis\Scripts\Webinator which I going to do right a way.

I do have a question on this. I see that dowalk and webinatoradmin do have .vx terminations. Can dowalk and webinatoradmin be .txt???

I had since those files early in the day, but I did not want to tamper with them. Now I see the angle.

Can I use .txt instead a .vx on those two files

The .vtx extension is for the compiled version of the script, which texis generates automatically; this extension cannot be changed. The source file must have no extension.

Even putting the dowalk and webinatoradmin files en the
<intalldir>\Texis\Scripts\Webinator with the changes sugested, it does not work. I have the feeling that the problem me be around webinatoradmin.

The 018 [webinatoradmin=webinatoradmin](dowalk) 888: Can't exec `./c:\ARCHIV~1\APACHE~1\apache\cgi-bin\texis.exe': El sistema no puede hallar el archivo especificado. in the function doexec

Continues to appears.

Other posibility is the when I downloaded by accident the system gave the UNIX Webinator and not the WIndows, but I am very sure I did mark that up very carefully.

This is really annoying. This is more Beta than a final product, and you should have that option. The regular 4.0.5 as proven software without bugs, and the new 4.1 as beta.
That would give the possibility of one choosing which way to go, and not having to live trough this agony. Two days of work lost.....

I know you are doing the best to help APACHE WIndows users, but I regret all of this. I should have stayed on 4.0.5, but one has to move with progress I guess....
