License Server Question

We purchased the Full Texis search engine and plan on using it with our Vignette integration. With the fully reg'd version, does it still need to hit the License Server question. From reading all the other posts, my understanding is that we shouldn't be required to since we purchased it. Additionally, does that have any affect on our search results? We are having an issue when we search on our custom search page (no results if not a Server not Found error), while the Texis Admin page manual search works fine.

The full Texis version does not need to contact the license server.

It should not affect the search results, but I'm not quite sure I understand the problem you are seeing.

Paid licenses do not need to contact the license server, though they may try. Check that your license is properly installed with
texis -license

View the source of your results page and look for error messages within html comments. Also look at your INSTALLDIR/texis/monitor.log and INSTALLDIR/texis/vortex.log files.

Sounds good on the licensing. Thanks!

Regarding the vortex.log, I get this:

--[SNIP SNIP]--

002 Jan 27 17:00:00 can't open C:\WINNT\system32\: no SYSTABLES in the function ddopen
000 Jan 27 17:00:00 Could not connect to . in the function openntexis
006 Jan 28 12:05:35 (1740) Can't write stdout via web server to 10.1.121.154 (Invalid argument); exiting

Looks like someone tried to do a database operation using "C:\WINNT\system32" as the database. Make sure you use a valid Texis database.

The "Can't write stdout" is probably caused by a user hitting "stop" or "back" on their browser.
