where can i download the perl dbi driver for texis?

Post by sbacchus »

short question: sorry to be dense, but i've scoured this site, the web, and cpan for a place to download the oft-mentioned-in-this-forum perl dbi driver for texis, and i just can't seem to find it. is it still available anywhere? we own a commercial webinator license, is the download unavailable at our licensing level?

longer question: i'm looking for a relatively quick way to start updating a webinator index with information from an oracle database. the update would involve replacing the titles and descriptions of search results with titles and descriptions from oracle. since i need to do this relatively quickly, and i am not very well-versed in vortex, i had planned to write a perl script to get data out of oracle and into webinator's tables. however, if the operation i describe is very easy to perform and automate in vortex, i'd be glad to be advised of that, and even more glad to be pointed in the direction of an example.

thanks much for any response.

The DBI driver comes with the full version of Texis, and is not available for Webinator. Generally operations that require more database like operations require Texis, and Webinator is for crawling and indexing websites, so if the data were already in <META> tags in the documents then it would be easy to do with Webinator, otherwise it is beyond the intended scope of Webinator.
