Installation on Windows 2003

Post by tony.malandain »

Hi all

I've downloaded the evaluation copy of Webinator but I haven't been able to install it on Windows 2003
I execute the webinator program, it starts extracting the files and after that nothing happen.
No dialog box, no CPU activity nothing!

Any idea what's going on?

Thanks,
/Tony.

How long did you leave it? It can sometimes take a minute or two once it gets to 99% extracted. Were you running it as Administrator?

I tried again today and left it running for 10mins at least.
But nothing appeared.
Tried under both the "Admin" account and my account (part of the Administrator group) with no success.
My server is also a PDC. Could that be a problem?
One thing I forgot to mention: I see the files being extracted. The progress bar reaches the 100%, then the window disappear and nothing. No more activity. CPU load is flat.

After that you should get a window with a "Finish" button with a checkbox to open the admin interface. Do you get that? Are there any other windows still around from the install process?

Nope, that's my problem.
I don't get any windows, and the programs (both webinator and Setup) stay in my process list not using any CPU cycle.
I don't know what they are waiting for.
And as far as I can tell, I have nothing installed. No Texis or Thunderstone folder on my drives.

I tried an installation on Windows 2003, and it succeeded without problem. It was not a PDC, although I don't know why that would cause a problem.

Was it the initial stage where it extracts the setup files, or after it asks for the installation directory and copies the files to that directory?

Ok,
I got it working. I basically did the good old reboot under Windows!
Basically, what happen was that the unzipping phase never finished. I never reached the point where I had to accept the license.
One more thing that may help your future customers: They need to allow CGI script in the Web Service Extension menu of the IIS mmc. If they don't the browser will return an HTTP 404 and the debug = 1 in the config file won't help.
Thanks for you help though.

I'm having the same problem with the installation on Windows 2003. Rebooting did nothing for me.

I see you've also opened a support ticket and have been sent a response to that. Please use either the message board or a support ticket, not both at the same time. Thanks.
