User Equivs - Back Referencing

Hi,
I have a question on Back Referencing see http://www.thunderstone.com/site/texisman/node185.html
How can I disable it?
I want only the root words to be associated with the words defined in the user equiv list not the words in the list returning results that contain also the root word.

backref -l1 eqvsusr.lst eqvsusr
