Upgrade Error

Post by KMandalia »

Hi,

We had Webinator 4.0 on our development server (Win2K), we recently upgraded it to webinator 5.0 (We also purchased the commercial version and we wanted to use free version to do some testing). We did renamed the old directories before install to prevent conflicts. but somehow we are getting the following error.

Texis Web Script (Vortex) Copyright © 1996-2004 Thunderstone - EPI, Inc.
Free Webinator Version 5.00.1085675754 20040527 (i686-intel-winnt-32-32)

Error
000 2004-07-13 11:04:44 License violation: Max Texis Version 000 License violation: Max Texis Version

ANY HELP?

Looks like you purchased 4 and downloaded free 5. Paid and free don't coexist well. You'll need to completely shutdown paid to run free.
PAID_INSTALLDIR\monitor -U
PAID_INSTALLDIR\monitor -k
Make sure no monitor or texis processes are running. Then install free version to a different directory than paid.

No, we had 4 free we liked it and purchased 5. At the same time we downloaded 5 so that we can customize the appearance and when time comes copy the script for one click switch. We are not installing paid and free on same server

If you contact Tech Support through the link at left with the DR number we can send you the correct license file for you to install.

I wanted to make sure you understand my problem? We are only talking about free versions. I had 4 on my server, I uninstalled the application, renamed the directory and installed 5. and I am getting the error I described before.

To reset the license, run monitor -k and remove the license.key file from the install directory. It will then regenerate a Free Webinator license.

You may want to run monitor -R, and then start monitor as a service so it has appropriate permissions, if not it can run as the web server user, which may have a reduced permission set.

Tried what you recommended, didn't work. Keep alternating between the original error:

Error
000 2004-07-13 11:04:44 License violation: Max Texis Version 000 License violation: Max Texis Version

and this error:

Error
011 2004-07-13 15:26:01 Texis Monitor process failed to create license segment 011 Texis Monitor process failed to create license segment
000 2004-07-13 15:26:01 Cannot get config settings 000 Cannot get config settings
