License Violation

Is there a way to try the free version without getting the subject message. I downloaded the free version and got the following message right away:
"This site has been in violation of its license since 2005-01-18 10:39:16
License Server Contact (10000(0)rows/10000(1)hits) "
I don't have any problem purchasing a license, but we would like to check it out first.
