Hello,
On the dropdown list I have a bunch of urls that are going to be spidered. For example, the could be:

http://x.a.com
http://y.a.com
http://z.a.com

I would like to have a category that would include x.a.com and y.a.com, one that would be for z.a.com, and a third that would be for all three. What would the URL pattern be for them?

According to the manual

"There may be more than one pattern for each category. Separate multiple patterns with space."
So your settings would be just like the example there.

Category1 http://x.a.com/* http://y.a.com/*
Category2 http://z.a.com/*

You don't need a category for "Everything". It's implied.
