Exclude Data/Keep Links From a Specific Section of a Page

I was just curious whether there's a way to do that in the admin interface or customize the dowalk script:

I'd like to be able to index only the links within a section of a page (marked by some kind of unique strings) and ignore its content at the same time.

Links are kept from the entire page, even if some content is ignored. Were there links you wanted to ignore on the page as well?

Yes, the links are in the side navigation menu, but I didn't want to have the side nav text show up in the search results, so I surrounded it by marker strings. I wasn't aware that the links of that section would still be walked.
