Visible Y/N

I have noticed that the categories now have a Visible Y/N radio button immediately to the right of each category. I have chosen No for one of my categories. I am still seeing this category on my results pages. Do I need to run a new walk for this to take effect? I am assuming that if I choose No for a category it will be available threw the forms in my web site html pages but not visible in the search results category drop down. Is this correct?

Correct. You can still search by the categories that are not visible.

Make sure you check Y for the remaining categories and that you selected the correct one. The vertical alignment of the buttons isn't always perfect with respect to the categories.

Also if you have a form that does a category search in a category that is not visible it will be visible on the results page of that search. That makes it clear what is being searched.

I am having difficulty implementing this. I have 16 categories and so I have chosen Y for most of my categories or N some so all 16 categories either have a Y or N. On the advanced search results page I am still seeing all 16 categories in the drop down. Do I need to run a new walk before these choices take effect?

Is your search script version in sync with your dowalk version? If you've updated dowalk but not search the search won't know about the visibility flags. You need at least version 5.1.12.

My search script is at version 5.0.11 and my dowalk is at 5.1.11 Thank you for helping me identify the problem.

I am now using search and dowalk version 5.1.44 and I am still having some problems. I have noticed that the Visible Y/N option is directly aligned with the category which is really nice. However my selections rarely are maintained with an update selection. I have 16 categories and I would like two categories to not be visible. When I select the no option and choose update these are reverted to the yes options and two other categories strangely are changed to yes. There is something wrong with the dowalk script. Somehow the Visible radio buttons aren't associated with the category directly to the left.

Did you choose Y or N for all the categories? Do you have any empty category names or patterns?

I chose y for 14 categories and n for 2. Yes I have empty category names and I tried to choose n for those.

You can not have empty category names, as it looks the same as a deleted category name. It will also show up in the drop down box when you search in that category.
