Yes the url is long but does not exceed tha capabilities of IE. The url in question is 1189 in length. Here is Microsoft's answer to how long a url can be. They do mention that http specs do not mention a max length.

Since we do not exceed our target audience specs what are your specifications for url length??

The current limit in the appliance is 1024.
