Cookie Source Path

Post by KMandalia »

What is a correct way to enter a cookie source path in Windows 2003 Server OS.

I logged into server, browsed to the website that offers persistent cookie, located the cookie and entered it in the cookie source path field as below:

C:\Documents and Settings\XXXX\Cookies\XXXX@www.YYYY[1].txt

XXXX=My Login name
YYYY=Domain name

When I start the crawl from the server while logged in, I get the following message:

Cannot read cookie file/dir C:\Documents and Settings\XXXX\Cookies\XXXX@www.YYYY[1].txt: No such file or directory

I must be entering the cookie path wrong. What is the correct way to do it?

You should just enter the path to the Cookies, directory, e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\XXXX\Cookies without specifying a specific cookie.

BTW, I created a new folder called cookies directly under C: and placed my file there. It worked then. Did it not work before because of space in path? I tried to put double quotes but it still didn't work. I would like to make the default cookie path work because I can't do this every time.

Spaces in the path are ok; you do not need to provide quotes (in fact quotes will not work). I would surmise some other typo occurred in the path; that is the only way I was able to reproduce the issue. A permission issue should have given a different message. You've confirmed that the Cookie Source Path exists on the server that Webinator is installed on?

Well, I copy pasted the directory path from the windows explorer.

In the dowalk script, is there a different message for permissions? I am doubting that.

I have confirmed that cookie source path exists on the server. In fact, I logged onto the server to set up a coookie and start a crawl.
