Hi,
We have two profiles set up one of which displays the word and excel titles in the search results but the other profile doesn't. The only difference in the configuration is the base url and word ordering and promiximity.
Any ideas why one would show the word/excel file titles but not the other (the word and excel files all have titles)

Are the two profiles indexing the same excel/word files?

No, different files. But all our word and excel files have titles.

The titles should be extracted by the anytotx plugin. If you run the plugin manually on the files does it extract the titles?

Do the URLs look similar (e.g. same extension)?

how do I run the plugin manually?

You can run:

anytotx -M -fMSW file.doc
anytotx -M -fXLS file.xls

to test individual files. There should be headers at
the top showing the meta information about the file.

I've just run the plugin manually and it gives me back the titles.
however the titles aren't being returned in the search results page.

Have the files with missing titles been visited by the crawler since you confirmed having titles and same settings? They may not have been if you're using refresh mode. Try doing a new walk instead of refresh if that's the case.

What *are* you getting for those files' title and text? (see list/edit urls for details)

The files have been visited using a "New" crawl and stil the same result. In list/edit urls the title for one excel document returns as

Title: MSExcel Document (21k)

but if I manually run the anytotx I see the correct title.

I'm not able to replicate that.
What version of scripts are you using?
Have you modified the scripts?
What non-default settings are you using?
Do the latest stock scripts from the website work?
