We have just set up a new profile. Only the first page is being walked. The vortex log is showing the following error :
User PUBLIC has been added without a password.

and the webinator adminstration interface says
"Abandoning new walk. Cannot generate test query: No usable terms in index xh_TiDsKyMtBy_ViMoDpPp."

any ideas why this is happening?

The "User PUBLIC has been added without a password" message is not an error, and is expected. It sounds as if it could not find any content on the first page. You might try increasing the verbosity to 4.

there are 5 links on the first page and a metatag
<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"noindex,follow\">

verbosity is set to 4.

The meta noindex will prevent the content of the first page being indexed. Do you see errors listed for the 5 links to indicate why they aren't followed?

I managed to get this working by making sure Strip Queries was set to No.
