Equating non plural words

Post by aagarwal »

I know there is equivalence file to match synonyms and we do use it for words like "lawyer" and "Attorney".

However, there are cases like "plumber" and "plumbing" which are part of the same base word. Is there some way of making them equal without having to write all such cases in the equivalence file?

Would plural processing mechanism help in this? Is it advisable to use plural processing rather than equivalence in such cases? Is there any other mechanism to automatically handle such cases?

We have minword=3, difsumrm=0 and suffix list s, es, se

Suffix processing with the default suffix list, instead of your abbreviated one, is the normally recommended way of handing word forms.

We had to put "se" in the list so that we could match "horse" and "horses" which wasnt working otherwise. If "se" is not part of the default suffix list, can we use the default and add to it? How do we use the default?
