I guess the subject says it all: If we have HTML comments in pages
indexed by Webinator, will any of the text in those comments show up in
the responses to a query?

Nope. As a quick test would show, comment text (enclosed by <!-- and -->)
is stripped from the formatted and indexed HTML.
