Running Webinator on Linux

Post by Thunderstone »

Hi

Problem running Webinator with Zeus Web-Server:

I installed free Webinator under Linux 2.0.36 without any problems.
My cgi directorie ist under /usr/local/zeus/web/bin/cgi (with executable
permission!!!)
The document root is /usr/local/zeus/webdoc.
When I point my browser to http://my.domain.com/webinator I get the "Web
Index & Retrieval System" site O.K. - but when running the search
interface - the error message is;

Document not found

The requested document /cgi/texis/webinator/search/ was not found on this
server. This could be for a variety of reasons, including:

You followed a broken or out-of-date link.
You entered the URL incorrectly.
The file no longer exists.

What's the problem about????

Martin

You've installed in a non-standard location. The installation
assumes that the CGI directory you give is referenced from the top level
of the server. Using your example:
http://my.domain.com/cgi
http://my.domain.com/cgi/texis/webinator/search/

If this is not the case you need to modify the url you're using to reference
the CGI directory correctly. In your case I might guess
http://my.domain.com/bin/cgi/texis/webinator/search/

Also make sure it's actually a CGI enabled directory in the webserver's
config. Not just a directory with unix level execute permissions.
