Preventing monitor from automatically restarting (temporarily)

Post by barry.marcus »

Is there a way, after I issue

monitor -k

to prevent the monitor from restarting if someone issues a request to our website afterward. The reason for killing the monitor in the first place is so that I can safely do some maintenance on the files, etc., and to be on the safe side I just don't want anything starting up until all the changes are squared away.

Also, it would be nice to be able to be the *sole* user allowed to successfully issue requests to the website during this temporary maintenance period for testing purposes.

Thanks.

Sorry. I unintentionally started this thread in the Installation group. Is there a way to move it?

If it's not safe to run monitor it's not safe to run texis either. You could rename texis to mytexis or such so it can't be invoked except by you entering that in the url manually.
