Searching only part of a database

Hello,

(I tried RTFMing, but couldn't find anything about this.)

I was wondering if it were possible to set up a search form to search only
part of a database. I.e. if I have webinator index http://www.foo.edu/,
could I modify a search form or script in such a way as to search only
http://www.foo.edu/bar/ ?

Thanks!

Christopher,

I had the same idea a few months back and, you're right, theres nothing
in the Webinator manual about this.

What you need to do is modify the search script used by Webinator to
support this. It's not too difficult once you've got the hang of the
Vortex scripting language but it took me a little time to get up
to speed. The script I have will either take the URL as an argument;
something like

http://www.foo.edu/cgi-bin/texis/webina ... o.edu/bar/

or use the referer environmental variable available and pick it up that
way.

If you'd like a copy of our modified script just let me know. If there
is sufficient interest, perhaps one of the fine people at Thunderstone
could add it to the list of example scripts.

Regards,

Steve.
