I have registered for your Webinator package and got to your download
page, but can't get into your ftp site...get's hung up at "looking up
host". Waited for 20 minutes, several times but no go!

Please advise...

In attempting to install and FTP'ing Webinator for Linux 2.x on a server running a "custom" version of Linux Red Hat 5.2 with Apache Server 1.3.4 I get the following errors:
------------------------------------------------------
Readme1st.txt
install
widb.tar
insize:1035 posbits:180 inbuf:8C 43 49 07 E8 (4)
uncompress: corrupt input
tar: Unexpected EOF on archive file

---------------------------------------------------
Installing Webinator files
tar: Unexpected EOF on archive file

Problem extracting tar file /home/www/lexismd/cgi-bin/widb.tar into /home/lexisy
... Aborting installation ...
--------------------------------------------------------
Fearing a truncated or corrupt tar file. I deleted the extracted install files and .tar.Z file, downloaded a fresh copy from your site and attempted again a second install with the above results. I have searched your mssg. boards for solutions but came up short on this subject.

What are we doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

The webinator.tar.Z file is sent via HTTP. If you are subsequently ftp'ing it to another machine make sure that you using binary mode. What size is the .tar.Z file that you downloaded?

Thanks for the prompt response!

The HTTP tar.Z file size in our HDD is 9670188.

Our previous FTP's of webinator.tar.Z to our server have been done, as we always have done with .cgi files and the like, in ASCII mode.

We will send a fresh .tar.Z in binary to our server and try again. We'll keep you informed.

Your company and software products/services came higly recommended. Now we can see why.

Once again, thank you.

That is the correct size for the current version. The ASCII mode is certainly a problem, as compressed files don't react kindly to that.
